The Saturday Morning Folk Show

chick-p & The Prophet

Good morning, y'all.

Today, The Prophet is in the building, starting the set off with some of our favorites of good ol' country blues: Mississippi John Hurt, Sonny Terry, Lightnin' Hopkins, and others. But before that, we'll briefly hear from Elizabeth Cotten; a remarkable singer/songwriter in her youth who, while working as a maid for the Seeger family many years down the line, rediscovered her chops on the guitar and recorded some fantastic works of art. After singin' the blues, we'll be taking a detour to hang with Woody n' Friends: Pete Seeger and Cisco Houston (and Sonny Terry in spirit). When their time comes and goes, we'll be listening to one of their biggest fans: Bob Dylan! It wouldn't really be a Saturday Morning Folk Show with The Prophet without Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan, would it? Some accompanying artists from there include Tom Paxton, Hoyt Axton, Tom Rush, and Davids Grisman and Mallett.

Oh yeah, and The Homesick Hawaiian (my old man) and DJ NamePending (my brother) will be joining me down in the station with some of their own tunes! Chaos will ensue, I'm sure.

I hope that you, dear listener, are surviving and thriving in these tumultuous times. Take it easy, but take it!
