The European Preying Mantis will begin the show - free of charge! The Appalachian Oral History Project will then provide us with an interview with Rose and Jethro Beverly conducted in 1984  Jethro talks about his life in the coal mines of Wolfe County, KY in the early part of the 1900's. The 2000 U.S. census indicates Wolfe County is the poorest county in the U.S. by median household income. Are you aware the Guiness Book of World Records has a category for the World's Greatest Explorer? It's true! In 1984, they "awarded"  Sir Ranulph Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes with this honor. We'll delve into his almost too much to believe exploits. Then - the legend of "The Governer's Right Eye" will be exposed - the legend dates back to 1797 and takes place in what was to become CA. The offshore oil rigs/platforms that pockmark the seas around the world are obviously  designed to withstand the worst of high seas and tortuous winds. However, recent articles about the potential of super charged hurricanes paint a rather uncertain picture for off shore oilrigs and their ability to deal with climate change fueled storms.
