Although not indicated in my playlist, the show will start out with live recordings made by folks who made the exodus from the Great Plains to the Central Valley of CA during the Dust Bowl years that rendered farmers pennyless, destiture and mired in poverty. These songs can be found in the Library of Congress' Migrant Worker Collection of 1940/1941.Following these songs, I'll turn to original recordings of songs that were often heard between 1923 and 1959. These tunes can be considered as blues, country, rockabilly, folk, bluegrass, doo wop and honky tonk (roughly). After each song, I'll play the same song covered by a band that recorded the song several years after the original recording was cut. By the time the given cover song was recorded, elements of psychedelic, psychedelic blues, country western and hard rock enter the scene. These cover songs were recorded between 1963 and 2003...
