I'll narrow in on the psychedeliic music that sprang out of the San Francisco area between 1965 and1970. Hmm...did you know the Grateful Dead started out as a jug band called "The Warlocks back in 1965? I'll expose the KDVS listening audience to music that is truly spacey and heavily psychedelic in nature. It's cool in a number of ways - one of them is that many of these tunes were recorded in the San Franciso area during what is erroneously referenced as "The San Francisco Sound." When I think of this time period, hippies, free love, anti war, anti establishment views, hallucinogenic drugs and the Haight Ashbury come to mind. These songs larlgely reflect that brief and unique time when psychedelic music surged out of San Francisco...
