The upcoming music is definitely unique to the United States. The recordings represent a good example of what can be referred to as American Roots music. It is sometimes rather difficult to place different genres of music into specific categories as the multitudes of musical styles typically merge with other styles of music – hillbilly, jugband, jazz, honky tonk, country, blues, bluegrass and rock 'n roll come to mind. Let's not forget about country blues and swing!
The songs I'll be playing were all recorded in the Appalachian area of the United States mainly between the 1920's and 1940's. The regional "flavor" and distinct sound of the tunes, and of course the lyrics are quite unique in nature...
