Joe Frank A Call in the Night NPR Playhouse and WBAI 1979 – Joe recalls his childhood when he was confined to a wheelchair, his father was dying and his mother was training a new clown for their family-managed circus. We listen to a play in which a lonely, cultivated woman seduces a man fresh from the country amidst chaos and bubonic plague. Scenes from the play are critiqued by a panel of academics. In his closing monologue, Joe recalls an operation on his club feet which coincided with his father’s death.

Joe Frank Queen of Puerto Rico NPR Playhouse and WBAI 1983 – On vacation with his parents in the Caribbean, a teenage boy becomes obsessed with a beautiful woman who dresses only in pink. He follows her around the island, trying to summon the courage to speak to her. One night, drunk, the boy is raped by an older man, who claims the boy is really a homosexual. Their relationship continues after the boy’s family returns to the States.
