It’s a weird, wide world. When we look at everything around us, we tend to use Ockham’s Razor to understand it. That is, to say, that we assume the simplest, most apparent explanation is the correct one. There are people, however, who see a more complex world. From early Native American and indigenous stories to modern day culture references, Bigfoot is a legend that has maintained its cultural relevance through decades like few other conspiracy theories have. From its references in movies, television, radio, and literature, its staying power as a myth, legend, and perhaps real creature is impressive. Museums, FBI files, devoted fans, and television specials highlight the presence of Bigfoot lore in our everyday lives. This week, Cameron and I will be exploring the cultural impact of one of the United States’ most prominent cryptids, Bigfoot.
