There was no avoiding it, we're entering into a synthwave set.
Synthwave is a genre heavily influenced by soundtrack artists like John Carpenter, Tangerine Dream and Vangelis. It plays on atmosphere and imagery commonly associated with sci-fi, action and horror movies from the 1980s - concept albums with the end goal of producing "soundtracks to movies that never existed". This resurgence started around 2008, and now it just keeps going...
This love letter goes out to bleeding-heart nostaligics.
