My last show for the Spring quarter. Let's boogie!
Space Disco lasted roughly from 1977 - 1986. It combined the current pop culture interest in Sci-Fi (Star Wars franchise, Space Invaders/Asteroids/Galaga, ET, Close Encounters, so on) with an already popular genre. The use of synthesizers was key for that futuristic sound, plus any sci-fi concepts tacked onto the songs.
Not to be confused with Space/Cosmic Synth, though I may have snuck some Space Disco in my Space Synth show ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This love letter goes out to those who dreamt of a glamorous future.
