The Front Porch Blues Show
JD Esquire
Rich Blackmarr will host the Front Porch Blues Show this evening, and it will take another look at blues and bluesy R&B recordings from the year 1966. Two of his previous Front Porch outings have focused on the year 1966, but this show will include different tunes from artists surveyed before as well as musicians not previously included. Aside from a healthy dose of Chicago blues from the likes of Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, and Howlin' Wolf, you will hear from then-newcomers Charlie Musselwhite and Paul Butterfield. A Chicago R&B/soul set from Betty Everett, Gene Chandler, Jerry Butler, Billy Stewart, and others will put the blues into perspective. The program will also feature artists from other blues scenes like Louisiana, Memphis, and the West Coast.
