The Front Porch Blues Show

Rich Blackmarr will host the Front Porch Blues Show this evening. The program will begin with a short profile of the great blues and jazz singer Jimmy Rushing (1901-1972) from late 1930s recordings with the Count Basie Orchestra to his 1960 album with Dave Brubeck. Then the focus will turn to a brief history of blues piano from the late 1920s through the 1940s. Featured blues pianists will range from Cow Cow Davenport, Leroy Carr, and Georgia White to Memphis Slim, Champion Jack Dupree, and Big Maceo.
