The Front Porch Blues Show

JD Esquire

Rich Blackmarr will host the Front Porch Blues Show this evening.  The program will delve into blues roots from the World War II years and feature blues and blues/jazz recordings made from late 1941 to early 1945.  From one of Muddy Waters' early Library of Congress recordings on Stovall's Plantation, country artists like Sleepy John Estes and Big Joe Williams to the big band sophistication of Eddie 'Cleanhead' Vinson with Cootie Williams Orchestra and Wynonie Harris with Lucky Millinder's Orchestra, the program will review the spectrum of blues-oriented music supported by the African-American communities across the U.S.A. during the war years.
