The Front Porch Blues Show
JD Esquire
Rich Blackmarr will be your host this evening on the Front Porch Blues Show. In a departure from his usual approach of mining blues recordings from a specific year in blues history, the program will begin with the original blues artist recordings of the 12 songs covered in tribute by the Rolling Stones on their new 2016 release album entitled Blue & Lonesome. The second hour of the show will be a grab bag including a further look at the Vanguard label series called Chicago/The Blues/Today! recorded by Samuel Charters in late 1965, plus a retrospective of recordings by classic singer/pianist Victoria Spivey made from the 1920s to the 1960s.
