The Front Porch Blues Show
JD Esquire & Rich Blackmarr & TJ
Rich Blackmarr is your host this evening on the Front Porch. The show will feature blues recordings released in the first three months of the year 1957. You will hear bluesy instrumentals from tenor saxophonists Willis 'Gatortail' Jackson and King Curtis, guitarist Mickey Baker and zydeco accordion legend Clifton Chenier. Other blues artists whose recordings were peddled in early 1957 include Lightnin' Hopkins, Jimmy Reed, Lowell Fulson, Sunnyland Slim, Annie Laurie, Fenton Robinson, Bobby 'Blue' Bland, Etta James, Little Milton, and many more. The second hour of the show will include Ann Cole's and Muddy Waters' versions of the instant classic 'Got My Mojo Working', which competed for sales in the R&B music marketplace. This will be the first of several FPBS installments featuring blues from 1957.
