The Front Porch Blues Show
JD Esquire & Rich Blackmarr & TJ
Tonight the Front Porch Blues Show will be hosted by Rich Blackmarr. This program will look at blues recordings released early in the year 1950. Featured artists include some who were active before WWII such as Lonnie Johnson, Big Bill Broonzy, Valaida Snow, Sonny Terry, and Wea Bea Booze. There will be a New Orleans blues set including early records from Fats Domino, Professor Longhair, Jewel King, and Roy Brown. We'll have rough and tumble Houston, Detroit, and Chicago sounds from Lightnin' Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, and Muddy Waters. Also some great guitar band blues from Texans T-Bone Walker, Gatemouth Brown, and Pee Wee Crayton. We'll also fit in the more polished urban blues of Charles Brown, Dinah Washington, Sonny Parker, Joe Liggins, and Julia Lee. This will be a launching pad for a couple future looks at later blues releases from the year 1950.
