Oil and gas drilling threatens East African environments that support us all: "These are not biological sideshows, or the whimsy of scientists in European hothouses. These are a vital part of the oceans’ ability to support life, to maintain oxygen in our atmosphere, and to support a range of other resources. The temptation is to be vague, to think that oil and gas are central to our existences. They are not: in plain terms, we must recognise that in the competition for resources, we are allowing oil and gas corporate multinationals to win the race, and to starve us into submission, literally."
