New Day Jazz

Justin Desmangles

France and Bones sit in for Justin, featuring an interview with poet Carmen Calatayud. She will read from her new book, In The Company of Spirits, and will be in Sacramento for Dia de los Muertos.  Music will honor some who have passed, and the season.

Come celebrate Día de los Muertos with Los Escritores Del Nuevo Sol featuring award winning poets Francisco X. Alarcón and Carmen Calatayud. Día de los Muertos is an important holiday which reinforces our culture’s strong sense of love and respect for one’s ancestors while celebrating the continuance of life. The Day of the Dead has a rich historical and cultural tradition that springs from the human hope to never be forgotten. Please join us to celebrate Día de los Muertos with a night of poetry. There will be an open mic at the event in which you can share poetry as well. We hope to see you at Sol Collective (2574 21st St. Sacramento, CA 95818) on November 1, 2012. The event will begin at 6:00 pm.
