Science in Context

Michael Meloni

This week we talk about various geo-engineering ideas that have been developed by scientist.  By geo-engineering we mean large scale projects that are able to measurably affect the Earth's climate and/or atmosphere.  Two specific ideas we talk about are using aerosols to reflect sunlight from the Earth in order to cool the Earth, and direct air capture of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

The show image is of the blowers used by Carbon Engineering in their direct air capture plant used to capture carbon dioxide from the atmoshpere.
