Buried Alive in the Blues

Big Dave

I have a few things to cover today, but the first and biggest is a tribute to Phil Chess, who passed away this week. Brothers Phil and Leonard Chess (pictured) founded the single most important blues label, Chess Records, in Chicago in 1949. They recorded the biggest names in blues, and their recordings have been incalculably influential on blues, rock, and pop music. Muddy, Wolf, Little Walter, Sonny Boy, Elmore, Otis, Etta, John Lee, Koko - their roster goes on and on. Thanks for the music, Phil, and rest in peace.
