Native America Calling

Thursday, March 8, 2012 – Masks as Tribal Identity:
Cultures around the world have used masks in ceremony, entertainment, protection and even for sport. From the Artic to the Aztec, masks were an important part of religious and daily lives of Native people. The Cherokee utilized masks in their Booger Dance that is still alive today. Masks can be made out of wood, bone, leather and decorated with religious symbols and clan membership. Does your tribe use masks for ceremonies or storytelling? Guest include Cherokee artist/mask maker Roger Cain.

Fatherhood is Sacred takes place every Thursday at 5:30pm at 1418 20th Street in Sacramento.  This is a group for Native Youth and Parents of Native Children.
