New Day Jazz

Justin Desmangles

This afternoon on New Day Jazz, we celebrate the music of Eric Dolphy (June 20, 1928-June 29, 1964), with special attention to his collaborations with Charles Mingus, including the famous Prayin' With Eric (a.k.a. Meditations), as well as his brief tenure as a member of the John Coltrane group of the early 60's. On the 5 o'clock hour we will hear readings from James Joyce's Ulysses, as part of our acknowledgment of Bloomsday. Included will be the soliloquies of Molly and Leopold Bloom, read by Siobhan McKenna and E.G. Marshall, respectively.
