Show Description for Saturday 10/25/2008
Bones and France sitting in for Bill Wagman today with a very special show.  We feature a treasure of a new book, titled Music in the USA, a documentary companion. It charts a path through American music and musical life.  So tune in, while we do the same.   Judith Tick, editor, will join us and share some of the music which is referenced in this anthology which presents source material and other writings in the words of composers, performers, and writers.  We'll talk about singing schools in 1770, music as a means of culture, Scott Joplin, Stephen Foster and we'll foray into everything from roots music to jazz.  As Louis Armstrong once said, "All music is folk music."  We hope you'll love this show.  Thank you so much for listening!
