You'll find a sound track for summer daydreaming on tonight's program including two new Icelandic releases "Variations of Static" from 21 year old Olafur Arnalds as well as the track "All Alright" from the 5th release by Sigur Ros. Elvis Costello is featured on a selection from Bajofondo's Decca release "Mardulce". Costello is haunting, crisp, and listenable as ever on "Fairly Bright". Hour two picks up the pace with beats from Ladytron, Hercules and the Love Affair and Telepathique. "The Baseball Project" is a four piece band featuring Steve Wynn and Peter Buck and an wonderfully precise recalling of various on and off the field feats of various baseball legends including "Gratitude" is a dedication to labor rights pioneer Curt Flood, a St. Louis Cardinal who fought the game's "reserve clause" but never reaped the financial rewards he made possible for free agents to follow.

Hour one tonight gathers up spacey acoustic sounds including new releases from The Black Keys, Mt. Wilson Repeater, and Decemberist's front man Colin Meloy. The latter is featured on a new released live record recorded in multiple locations including San Francisco's Great American Music Hall. Technical difficulties unfortunately knocked us off the air at 8:05 this evening so it's a truncated show tonight. Be sure to tune in two weeks from now for the special fundraiser show. Mr. Frankly and I will cohost and encourage you to support community free form radio during our once a year fundraiser event. Featured here is the track "Madness". Also on tonight's program Keith Canisius revives the dreamy shoegaze genre on the CD "Ferris Wheel Makeout" and Nick Cave and the Bad serves up a strong new release - check out the title track from "Dig Lazurus Dig!" Back following recent sports preemption, "Today's Abberation Tomorrow's Fashion" is back with an understated vengence supplied by mysterious melodic sounds of Dive Index ("For Centuries") , the arresting and ghostly Sam Shalabi ("Billy the Kid"), and even a deadpan math lesson from Hot Chip ("Sessions"). For fans of the more overtly loud, tonight's edition of TATF works up to a couple of worthy new punk releases from Forbidden Tigers and Blanche Davidian.

Tonight's set of new releases including Denver's Breezy Porticos, and Sweden's Jens Lekman along with fellow countrymen "The Mary Onettes" all share 80s influences albeit quite diverse ones. LA Weekly once called "Alien Chatter", the duo of Indian percussionist Satnam Ramgotra and keyboardist Rodney Lee, "Funked-up and jazzilicious, laced with extra helpings of curry powder or double doses of chill-pill". The description is apt for "When Worlds Collide" - the first cut from the Invasion EP 1&2 and tonight's lead off track. Also in a "funked up", if not slightly more modern mode, is Cobblestone Jazz's "PBD" from their new K7 double CD release 23 seconds. K7 labelmates "Booka Shada", aka DJs Arno Kammermeier and Walter Merzinger serve up a remixed "Contact" featuring Brigitte Bardot. We also check the latest from the iconic Frank Black and fresh local music from the Groovy Ghoulies.

Lots of drifty dreamy stuff early on tonight including the surreal American folksy sounds of Ham I's "White Rat which oddly enough drops right into Norway's minimalist Origami Artika. A certain twangy zen permeates the first hour of tonight's edition of Today's Abberation Tomorrow's Fashion. A 10 minute nugget from Tom Carter & Christian Kiefer sets (Glass Palace) the mellow tone and leads towards the Mazzy Star reminiscient sounds of Trolleyvox's "Stomping Grounds - a selection from their Luzerne collection. The disc is part of a 2 CD set on the Transit of Venus label. The 8 o'clock hour will get a bit more in your face with a brash debut from The Pipettes. Also, phunky new electronica for Photek and The Bang Gang Deejays.

Tonight's show sneaks up on you like a sweet but potent drink. Take in an ambient warm up and then check out intoxicating new stuff from Odessa Chen, Arc Lab, and a unlikely pairing of a self taught central valley guitarist and a classically trained pianist(Christy and Emily). My hands down personal favorite of the evening is Bitter Sweet (the band not the feeling) featuring Kiran Shahani and Shana Halligan. "The Remix Game" follows their 2006 Quango release "The Mating Game".

Still knocking the Black Rock Desert playa dust off my shoes tonight and bringing back just a bit of the freeform musical spirit found there back here. A mellow first hour run up includes a Bay Area band worth watching - Birds & Batteries. Check out their rendition of the Neil Young classic "Heart of Gold". Later on things get downright funky with pleasant little gems from Bassbin Twins, Bombay Dub Orchestra, Brother JT (an unlikely add to our "rock" stacks), and my own guilty pleasure - new and not surprisingly nasty stuff from My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult. Black Lips serve up the chilling ode "O Katrina!" 2 years after the biggest natural disaster in U.S. history.

Back after a sports preempted absence, 'Today's Abberation Tomorrow's Fashion' delves into tasty new cuts from Air, Lusine, The One AM Radio, and a pleasant surprise from Seattle's Minivan...their "Sunday Sunday Sunday" is a romantic ballad inspired by monster truck pulls! Another worthy selection - Dalminjo's cover of the Smith's "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" featuring Anja Oyen Vister (info at Dalminjo.com). In this relatively electronic heavy show, I also took an immediate liking to Shaman's Dream's Dance:Dream:Dance on the Sounds True label...Hard to pick a track off such a consistent CD with a wide spectrum of global influences but the tribal tech beat of "Afronaut" won out. Thanks to everyone who tuned in this quarter - hope to be sending out more new sounds to you after an interim spring break... Jeffrey

Couldn't help but feeling lightly haunting overtones on this edition of "Today's Abberation Tomorrow's Fashion" and I don't know if it was just the tempermental CD trays in the studio. The oddly delightful 'Ghost' from The Berg Sans Nipple's Along the Quai release on the Team Love label was just one of several pleasant surprises in this month's new arrivals. Accelerate the beat but retain the melancholy of The Smiths and you have The Greenskeepers. Their Polo Club collection includes the cut "15 minutes". Check it out and see if you don't feel you have one foot in 80s and one in the "OOs". There's plenty of strange and wonderful sounds to be found on tonight's playlist so let me shut up while you listen.

The quieter side of tonight's edition of "Today's Abberation Tomorrow's Fashion" includes the spacey folk stylings of Susan Christie and the title cut to her second release "Paint A Lady". Dead Meadow's debut on the Xemu label and Austrailia's The Octopus Project contribute a downtempo psychedelic vibe. While relatively ancient by this program's standards at six weeks in the stacks, I couldn't resist one more spin of one of my favorite releases from 2006 - Thunderball's "Cinescope" collection on DC's ESL label is a keeper Check out the cut "Electric Shaka".

Friday night I made a wistful midnight run to the soon to be closed Tower Records Broadway store and picked over the dwindling stock. Saturday night my spirits were lifted back up again while thumbing through the new release bin at another local institution that thankfully isn't going away - KDVS. There are plenty of tasty tracks to be found on tonight's list - two personal favorites include the lovely vocals on Susan Christie's "Rainy Day" on the Finders Keepers release "Paint a Lady". Also check out a fine electronica pick from Plus Device (www.PlusDevice.com) "My, To Make You Feel".

Bookending tonight's show on the front side is a track fit for a "Lawrence of Arabia" remake soundtrack THUNDERBALL'S "Road to Benares". On the back end is a far cry from a romanticized Middle East with local punk rockers DEFIANT VOICE "For Honor" - a great anti war anthem for today's Iraq. In between, you can check out some tekked out global rhythms from SOUL SLINGER and also ASPHALT JUNGLE mixing up with classic Bob Marley. Sometimes you just have to chill. Tonight's edition of "Today's Abberation Tomorrow's Fashion" favors ambient wanderings and gentle grooves that have washed their way up onto the shores of our new arrival stacks. While the likes of Paul Wirkus and Roger O'Donnell might find you seeking candlelight or at least the dimmer switch, there is still plenty of BPM to be found in offerings from Polar and the latest from Basement Jaxx...their "On the Train" track from Crazy Itch Radio lifts a beat straight out of Stray Cat Shuffle but manages to sound fresh and original. Open your mind and your ears to Mauracher and a little gem that pops up in this week's new release offerings. "Kissing my Grandma" on the Kind label floats from a rollicking politically charged Americana vibe on tonight's featured track 'Mr. Egon' to their own signature electronic beats and raps. Also on tonight's show are echos of Joy Division in "According to Plan" by I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness and the Bowie inspired Andrew Benon. Info on Benon's "Rock and Roll Moves" at andrewbenon.com. Finally, I'll agree with another KDVS DJ who remarked that Wire's new "Chairs Missing" release is essential listening.

For this final spring quarter edition of "Today's Abberation Tomorrow's Fashion", our all new release showcase treats you to spaced out rootsy twang from veteran indie rocker veterans Eleventh Dream Day. "Zeros and Ones" is their first record in 6 years. New material from old standbys also includes "Camera Obscura" and stand up pop from Jon Auer of Posie's/Big Star fame. This show spirals upward in hour two starting with crunchy German instrumentalists "Couch" and turning ever more industrial and electronic leading finally to the Bowiesque sound of "The Paper Chase"

Tonight's excursion has an insidious building energy from the get over yourself wail of "Petty Problems" from the band DEFIANCE, OHIO to the Argentine fronted LANGUIS' (pronounced Long-Geese) Other Desert Cities EP. Also check out local sounds from DELUXE who find them self face down in "Gin & Tonic" from the Mary's Got Seven But I've Got Ten collection. Seasoned artists with new material out also includes TOM VERLAINE as well as CLAN OF XYMOX's Breaking Point now out on the Metropolis label. Dig in and enjoy the multi genred smorgasbord of current arrivals that is "Todays Aberation, Tomorrow's Fashion".

Thank you one and all KDVS listeners especially those of you who contributed just a tad over $1000 during the program two weeks ago cohosted by Mr. Frankly.
This weeks spacey edition of "Todays Abberation Tomorrow's Fashion" is heavy on chilled out electonica including new releases from Aphex Twin, Clapan, and a twisted mix of The Doors 'Strange Days' from DC's Thievery Corporation. Their "Versions" CD is available on their own 18th Street Lounge label. Another worthy mixer is the reggae inspired "Mr Anonymous". Check out 'Player Hater'.

Mr. Frankly and yours truly have plowed through some new release premium thank you gifts for our current intensive 2 hours. We also dusted off some catalog titles as well. Listen for a program exclusive special premium bonus available to someone out there who doesn't have anything better to do on Sunday April 30th than play in the snow! If you're a skier or rider you won't want to miss this hook up courtesy of Jeffrey and Mr. Frankly.

Tonight's journey through the new release stacks spans from melodic to manic. Drift along with "Heavy Sleeper" from the Crystal Skulls or enter an 80s industrial time warp with Anders Manga. John Peel is no longer with us but the BBC Sessions live on to showcase exclusive performances from the likes of Zero 7 ("This World") part of a new double disc set from the venerable "Beeb". For those who like global infused electronic sounds - Six Degrees 'Traveler' compiliations are a real treat - the 2006 edition includes Niyaz's "Dilruba". Beat Pharmacy's "Constant Pressure" pulls in some heavy hitter reggae guest appearances including Mutabaruka, and on tonight's featured track "Club Dread", Mikey Dread. Finally, I dare you not to take an instant liking to The Sounds and their in your face pop captured on "Tony the Beat" off Dying to Say this to You on New Line Records. Next week, tune in for the KDVS fundraiser when me and Mr. Frankly will host together and ask you to represent 90.3's Saturday evening legions with your generous contribution to the cause.

This edition of "Today's Aberration Tomorrow's Fashion" traverses the etherial to funky. American roots rock is well represented with Dylan in the Movies "August Moon" and Will Johnson's Centro-Matic effort "Covered Up In Mines". Bossanova's "Rare Brazil" provides a sneaky pop melody to serve as a launching pad for Mokadi's lounge redux of the Julie Andrews classic "My Favourite Things". We dig into the softer side of three new electronic compiliations in hour two

From lilting to loud, something for everyone tonight including the latest from talented songstress BETH ORTON. The flashback induced excursion into "Memory of a Free Party" from comes from CHRIS COCO. It all leads to a crash landing courtesy of a pair of new releases on the Teenacide label by "THE CHECKERS" and "ROCKET" an all female quartet whose fashion model images defy their poppy punk sound.

The last edition of calendar year 2005 for "Today's Abberation, Tomorrow's Fashion" includes the usual ecletic blend of new material including the seasonal rant "If you didn't get me anything before, why did you get me anything for Christmas?" from SNMNMNM. Other personal faves on this playlist include Margo's "Ennui" featuring the French chanteuse Melanie Massons, and a biting commentary on the state of today's global media by electronic veterans Coldcut..."Everything is Under Control" featured on the upcoming "Sound Mirrors" CD on Ninja Tune records is not to be missed.

OK so "Today's Abberation Tomorrow's Fashion" returns after a long hiatus for basketball preemptions. My apologies for not mastering the online playlist entry system 100%. The programming overlords can cut me slack as I have not had nearly the practice of many. Most of the show is catalogued here. My personal faves on this evening were Snow Machine (bravely holding up the scene in Birmingham, AL) , French Toast (sounds a bit like Neil Young in his weird "Trans" era), and Thievery Corporation (allow me the indulgence) - Jeffrey
