The Front Porch Blues Show
JD Esquire & Rich Blackmarr & TJ
Rich Blackmarr will host the Front Porch Blues Show this evening. This show will feature blues recordings representative of the close of the 1930s and specifically from the pre-World War II year of 1939. Blues artists to be included are Robert Johnson, Tommy McClennan, Memphis Minnie, Big Bill Broonzy, Jazz Gillum, Roosevelt Sykes, John Lee 'Sonny Boy' Williamson (I), Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson, Merline Johnson, Jimmy Yancey, Cripple Clarence Lofton, Tampa Red, Washboard Sam, Rosetta Crawford, Casey Bill Weldon, Georgia White, Lonnie Johnson, and many more. We will stray into the jazz world with recordings from Jelly Roll Morton, Jimmy Rushing, Billie Holiday, Ethel Waters, Charlie Christian, and Mildred Bailey, all of whom were masters of the blues. Note that a future FPBS outing of mine will feature blues of the year 1940, which I also researched while putting this show together.
