Speaking in Tongues

Richard Estes

During the first half hour, Kevin Wildie will talk about his new book, Sacramento's Historic Japantown: Legacy of a Lost Neighborhood. After surviving the internment, it was redeveloped out of existence during the 1950s.  In his book, Wildie celebrates the resilience of the Issei who created this vibrant neighborhood, survived the internment and raised a successor generation of Japanese Americans, the Nisei.

Afterwards, I will speak with several people associated with the Sacramento Housing Alliance and the Sacramento Hunger Coalition about the challenges that people face in regard to affordable housing and food security, especially in the wake cuts to the SNAP program.
