FRONT PORCH BLUES SHOW for Sunday January 12, 2014
MARIO has the flu bug, so RICH BLACKMARR will be hosting the Front Porch Blues Show this week. On my January 5th show, I only had time to play about half of the blues tunes that I selected to illustrate the blues scene in the first half of 1954. So this week will be Part 2 of the 1954 blues releases. We'll get to artists left out by time constraints last week including Lightnin' Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, Jimmy Rogers, Papa Lightfoot, Sonny Parker, Little Esther, Smiley Lewis, Lowell Fulson, Amos Milburn and Screamin' Jay Hawkins. In addition, there will be a set of vocal group blues tunes including the Dominoes with Jackie Wilson, which I wasn't able to include last week.
Keep your fingers crossed as Mario says he is interested in doing the January 26th Front Porch Blues Show that I was scheduled to do, assuming he is well.
