The Front Porch Blues Show with J.D. Esquire and Friends

JD Esquire & Rich Blackmarr

Front Porch Blues Show with Rich Blackmarr on January 5, 2014 from 8:00 to 10:00 PM.  This installment of the FPBS will venture back sixty years to focus on blues recordings released in the first half of 1954.  In the first decade after WWII, blues still figured prominently in record sales in the developing R&B market, predominantly the African-American community.  From the biggest Billboard R&B hits of 1954 like Guitar Slim's The Things That I Used To Do to some of the last commercial recordings of pre-war blues stars like Memphis Minnie and Tampa Red to the new blues stars like Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, and B.B. King, this show will illustrate the variety of the blues scene in early 1954.
