FEVER DREAM VIII: Downtown Exile 

The harsh ringing of the bedside telephone cuts through the darkness and you awake with a jolt, beaded by the sweat of a midday nightmare. It is sometime in the late afternoon at the Verdigris, a run-down hotel on the east waterfront. Next to you is the stack of money you fell asleep with.  3 minutes later, when the telephone stops ringing, you pick up the phone to hear the message. A woman's voice, familiar yet hushed, tells you to come to room 405. In your fevered mind, you wonder if the end is near, if they've discovered your hiding place. Despite the danger, you find yourself stumbling towards the door....
