Wyatt Deck, Old Davis Road, UC Davis Arboretum
(Rain location:  Environmental Horticulture 146)
Fee: $75 (members $65), includes materials

The UC Davis Arboretum invites artists of all skill levels to participate in a drawing and painting workshop with Peter London, on Sunday May 1, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Employing simple, expressive art media in a safe and supportive setting with a few like-minded folks, participants will learn to create images that explore the connections between their inner selves and nature. The instructor will guide participants to make art “the way nature makes the world; like a river that flows and flows until it arrives at its destination.” The only prerequisites for the workshop are an open mind, an adventurous spirit, and a willingness to step outside. Materials will be provided.

Peter London is the author of No More Secondhand Art, 1987, Community Based Art Education, 1993, Drawing Closer to Nature, 2001, and numerous articles. He is an active studio artist whose work is in many private and public collections. He has taught and lectured in art, art education and art therapy across North America and in Europe for the last forty years. A UC Davis Arboretum volunteer and friend, Peter is generously donating all proceeds from this workshop to the Friends of the UC Davis Arboretum.

The workshop will take place at the Wyatt Deck, on Old Davis Road in the UC Davis Arboretum. Free parking is available in Visitor Lot 5, at Old Davis Road and A Street. The fee for the workshop is $75 ($65 for members of Friends of the UC Davis Arboretum) and includes materials. Pre-registration is required: visit registration.ucdavis.edu or call (530) 752-4880. Class limited to 20 participants.
