KDVS News: UC Davis Budget Hearing

There was a budget hearing in Chemistry 194 on March 8, 2011. Although the attendance of students was lower than expected, the students who did attend were involved and interested. Students were given paper to write questions on, and the panel spent most of the meeting answering these. The members of the panel agreed to have another meeting in spring quarter to continue updating students about the status of the budget. The members of the panel included: Bob Powell, Chair of Academic Senate; Kelly Ratliff, Associate Vice Chancellor; Linda Katehi, Chancellor; Ralph Hexter, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor; Fred Wood, Vice Chancellor; Joey Chen, Former ASUCD Controller; and Steven Ybarra, Former Civil Rights Attorney and current Professor.

Beru's "What Would I do Without You" Cassette on Thor's Rubber Hammer and Ros Bobos "Mandatory Astral Projections" Self Released

When I'm asked to emergency sub I like to play long songs cause I don't have much time to prep. Not that I don't play long songs on Middle School Friends, but artists like Beru make me not feel at all guilty for throwing their music on for 15 or so minutes. This tape, according to its track listing, has only two songs, one per side, but that is decptive. The A-side, "What would I do without you" is actually and exploration of tons of instrumentations, structured and unstructured songs, hooks and pure noise, some intentional others seem to be improvised.

Support the Vote of No Confidence in Mark Yudof and the UC Regents

On April 28th, the Aggie ran a story about a vote of "no confidence" in Mark Yudof and the UC Regents, and I'd like to remind everyone how golden an opportunity this is. No matter where you come from on the political spectrum, you have to admire the chance we have to VOTE on UNELECTED OFFICIALS. How cool is that? Sure the vote is just symbolic, and its being pushed through by many of the student protestors and those opposed to the fee increases and privatisation, but whether you agree with the protestor or not, wouldn't you like to see where Yudof and the Regents stand?
