What is Podcasting?Podcasting is a way to listen to radio shows on your own schedule, whenever you want, wherever you want. Despite the name, podcasting does not require an iPod, or any special hardware or software. All you need is a podcasting program (many free ones are available for PCs, Macs and more) and something to listen on (MP3 player, CD, computer, tape deck, whatever). It's more freedom for your freeform needs. How does it work?Every show on KDVS is digitally recorded and stored on our servers. Each show is then added to a list of available episodes of that show, which are then all freely available to listen whenever you wish if you subscribe to the podcast. How do I subscribe/listen?You need Podcasting software. Below is a list of known, quality free podcast managers. You will need to download and install this or some other podcast software.
You will have to refer to the documentation for your podcasting software as to how to listen specifically. What is the URL or RSS feed?Your podcasting software will ask for a URL or RSS feed or some variation thereof in order to create a subscribe. If you navigate to the show you wish to subscribe to from the schedule, you will find a "Subscribe to Podcast" link. Right click on this link and select "Copy link location", then, paste that URL into your podcasting software. I need more help!If you have a problem, chances are somebody else does too! Let us know your problem and we can post the solution here for everybody to see. Ask a podcasting question to webmaster@kdvs.org. |
